    Egyptian Remittances Hit $29.7B in July 2026

    CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances sent home by Egyptians working abroad reached approximately $29.7 billion during the first seven months of 2026. According to the Central Bank of Egypt, inflows increased by 28.1% from about $23.2 billion in the same period of January through July 2025. These figures reflect money sent by Egyptians employed overseas and serve as the latest official data for 2026. The total is roughly $6.5 billion higher than the amount recorded during the same period in 2025.

    In July alone, remittances amounted to about $4.5 billion, representing a 20% rise from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. This monthly figure follows earlier increases reported earlier in the year, with January reaching about $3.5 billion, up 21% from $2.9 billion a year prior. February inflows totaled about $3.8 billion, a 25.7% increase from $3.0 billion in February 2025. Together, January and February contributed roughly $7.3 billion to the recorded remittances for the 2026 calendar year.

    On a fiscal-year basis, remittances reached around $47.3 billion in 2025/2026, marking a 29.6% increase from the $36.5 billion registered in fiscal 2024/2025. In June 2026, inflows were about $4.2 billion compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, a 15.6% rise. The overall increase for the fiscal year was approximately $10.8 billion. Fiscal-year data encompasses July 2025 through June 2026, while the new total of $29.7 billion covers January through July 2026.

    Remittance Growth Maintains Double-Digit Momentum

    The Central Bank of Egypt also announced a record $41.5 billion in remittances for calendar year 2025, which was 40.5% higher than the roughly $29.6 billion sent in 2024. That increase equated to about $11.9 billion in dollar terms. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, remittances reached approximately $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion a year earlier, reflecting a 29.6% rise over six months.

    December 2025 saw about $4.0 billion in remittances, a 24% increase from $3.2 billion in December 2024, which the bank identified as a monthly record at the time. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal inflows had hit $25.6 billion, a 28.4% increase from $20.0 billion. By February, total remittances had grown to roughly $29.4 billion, up 28% from $23.0 billion a year earlier, covering an eight-month fiscal period.

    Official Figures Show Rising Inflows in Multiple Periods

    Progress continued into the spring months, with remittances from July to March of the fiscal year totaling approximately $34.9 billion, a 32% increase from $26.4 billion. By April, the ten-month cumulative total climbed to about $39.2 billion, representing a 33.2% rise from the $29.4 billion recorded a year earlier. April alone contributed roughly $4.3 billion, a 44% jump from $3.0 billion in April 2025, with the monthly increase equaling about $1.3 billion in absolute terms.

    By May, the fiscal-year remittances reached approximately $43.1 billion, an increase of 31.2% from $32.8 billion in the same period the previous year. May inflows totaled about $3.9 billion, up 13.5% from roughly $3.4 billion. The eleven-month total exceeded the previous year’s figure by about $10.3 billion, with the fiscal year closing at $47.3 billion before July pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. Throughout the latest official updates, both the cumulative and monthly figures stayed above their respective comparisons from the prior year.
