ABU DHABI, November 7, 2025: President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro, in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation across key sectors, including the economy, energy, education, and culture. The meeting highlighted ongoing efforts by both nations to strengthen ties and promote collaboration in areas that support national development priorities.

The discussions were held at Qasr Al Shati during the Montenegrin leader’s official working visit to the UAE. The two sides reviewed current partnerships and examined new opportunities to build on the growing cooperation between their governments. The talks reflected a shared interest in enhancing coordination to facilitate trade, investment, and innovation.

Sheikh Mohamed and Spajić discussed developments in the energy sector, with particular attention to renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. The leaders witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the UAE and Montenegro to advance joint work in the field of energy. The agreement was exchanged by Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Admir Šahmanović, Montenegrin Minister of Energy and Mining. The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration on energy projects and technical exchange.

The meeting also addressed broader international and regional issues of common interest. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining open channels of dialogue and cooperation at the governmental and institutional levels. The UAE and Montenegro have expressed mutual interest in strengthening bilateral coordination in multilateral forums and promoting stability and economic growth.

Accompanying the UAE President were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President. Senior officials from both countries also attended the meeting, underscoring the importance of the engagement to their respective governments.

UAE and Montenegro deepen renewable energy collaboration

Montenegro’s visit forms part of a series of high-level exchanges between the UAE and European nations aimed at expanding partnerships in trade, investment, and renewable energy. The UAE has become a growing destination for European investment and a key participant in clean energy projects across Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean. Both countries have previously collaborated on initiatives in infrastructure and tourism, sectors that continue to present opportunities for cooperation.

The meeting further emphasized the UAE’s focus on fostering bilateral relations with emerging European markets and supporting joint economic ventures that align with national growth agendas. Montenegro, a member of several regional and international organizations, has sought to strengthen its cooperation with Gulf nations in renewable energy and sustainable development. Diplomatic relations between the UAE and Montenegro were established in 2006, and since then, the two countries have developed partnerships in trade, tourism, and real estate investment.

The latest discussions in Abu Dhabi mark another step toward expanding those ties in sectors critical to both nations’ long-term development plans. The visit concluded with both delegations expressing satisfaction with the progress achieved in their discussions and reiterating their intention to continue coordination through regular exchanges and future agreements. The engagement reflected the continued importance of strengthening bilateral and economic cooperation between the UAE and Montenegro within an evolving global landscape. – By Content Syndication Services.
